Hello from Rob…
—In Q2, some big investors made notable purchases of GitLab (GTLB, $50.30) when the stock traded between a low of $37.90 (April 4) and a high of $54.08 (May 14):
Activist investor Eminence Capital became the #3 holder after buying 3.720 million shares, increasing its position by 149% to 6.218 million shares.
Activist investor HMI Capital added 1.430 million shares, boosting its stake by 32% to 5.858 million shares, making it the #4 holder.
Champlain Investment Partners, now the #5 holder, increased its position by 251% to 4.512 million shares, purchasing 3.227 million shares.
Atreides Management (run by the former portfolio manager of Fidelity OTC Portfolio fund) upped its stake by 867% via the purchase of 3.531 million shares. The firm now owns 3.938 million shares, making it the #7 holder.
Atreides was also a big Q2 buyer of Pure Storage (PSTG, $82.30), which I wrote about back in mid-August. Pure Storage shares in late August jumped 33% in one week following the company’s FQ2 (July) earnings report.
